Femmigje (aka Emmy) Chater (Asylum Justice Trustee and Volunteer) arrived in the UK in 1999 from Netherlands. In 2001 she started working for a Local Authority/Newport City Council in various roles supporting asylum seekers and refugees. During this period she obtained a BA Hons in Social Work and has been a registered Social Worker since.
Emmy is currently the migration policy officer for Newport City Council. She was initially involved with AJ as a volunteer and then became a trustee for Asylum Justice in 2007 (she is registered at OISC level 1). Emmy is the designated child protection and safeguarding lead for the organisation.
