Siân is an experienced senior manager who has successfully delivered in the third sector, she is currently the Chief Officer for City of Sanctuary UK. Previous to her current role she worked as the Director for Wales for the Community Transport Association (CTA) for two years, and previous to that she worked as the Chief Officer as Displaced People in Action (DPIA) for ten years. Her roles at CTA and DPIA were varied and included working on policy and strategy, as well as project management. Also during her time in the refugee sector she developed experience of delivering training in equality, diversity and refugee awareness.
Siân has a legal background having studied law as an undergraduate and completing a postgraduate diploma in legal practice. After completing her legal studies she worked for Hugh James Solicitors in family, child care and criminal law prior to realising her passion for equality and human rights. She then moved onto to work for the Commission for Racial Equality and two Race Equality Council’s as a Race Discrimination Caseworker. She has also achieved an NVQ Level 5 Management, an ILM qualification and in 2013 she undertook a MSc in Human Resource Management. She was awarded Chartered membership status for the CIPD in 2014. Siân is also a trustee for Asylum Justice, a charity which provides free asylum and immigration advice. She is also a qualified level one immigration adviser having volunteered for the charity for many years. She therefore has extensive legal, business, fundraising, and HRM and project management knowledge gained through academic studies and through work experience. Throughout her career she has demonstrated a strong commitment to social justice and promoting refugee integration.
