Asylum Justice Trustees to participate in Legal Walks to raise funds
Some of Asylum Justice’s Trustees will be participating in Reaching Justice Wales: Cyrraedd Cyfiawnder Cymru‘s (RJW) Cardiff Legal Walk organised with support from the Access to Justice Foundation.
For the poorest and the most vulnerable people in our community, access to justice is out of reach. Free legal advice makes a huge different to their lives. The recession has increased poverty and reduced support services. Meanwhile, funding for advice services has reduced; particularly since the 2013 removal of much of legal aid for humanitarian or social welfare legal advice.
The course which sees participants tackle a 10km walk through Cardiff’s parks and sights takes place on September 28th. We are walking to allow our vital work providing legal services to people seeking sanctuary who otherwise have no access the legal aid or legal provision, to continue. If you would like to sponsor the Asylum Justice team, you can do so here.
In addition to the 10km Cardiff Legal Walk, a Swansea-based trustee, Eleri Williams, will be taking on the Swansea Legal Walk, which takes place two weeks earlier, on September 14th. This will mean she is walking a total of 18km to raise funds for Asylum Justice. You can sponsor her efforts in Swansea here should you wish to do so.
Thank you for your continued support. We’ll make sure to send you photos from the walks!
